Lapeer Country Club Wedding and Venue Guide

Lapeer Country Club in Mid Michigan

As a Southeast and Mid Michigan wedding photographer who’s photographed 70+ weddings, I know the dreamiest wedding venues across Michigan. Hi, friend! I’m Catie Eovaldi and I’ve been photographing weddings for the past 3 years all over the Midwest.

Heading into my fourth year of wedding photography, I firmly believe your wedding photos should truly reflect you. You want images that make you remember even the smallest moments on your day: that hug from your grandma, those spicy polaroids you give your partner throughout the day, dancing with your friends to “Love Story” or “Ocean Avenue”. These are the images you will want preserved to look back on for the rest of your life. Selecting the perfect venue is the first step in bringing your wedding day vision and future memories to life.

My first wedding of my 2025 wedding season happened in early spring, and what a celebration it was! A week before this wedding at Lapeer Country Club I managed to break my foot on a vacation and work trip at Disney World (yep, I photographed an engagement at Disney). I got mowed down by a double stroller while on Main Street in Magic Kingdom so I worked the entire day in a boot. It’s okay to laugh- my husband and I giggle about me getting taken out by a stroller all the time, but a little ole’ broken foot and rain wasn’t stopping me from working.

About Lapeer Country Club

Lapeer Country Club is a wedding venue located in Mid Michigan. This golf club hosts weddings throughout all of Michigan’s seasons. This has a banquet hall feel to it, but the space can easily be elevated further through decor such as drapery, florals, or candles. The grounds are well maintained, but in the event of rain there is not much coverage for outdoor photos. There are plenty of indoor spots for your professional portraits, but it can be a bummer when the golf course is so pretty!

Off-Site Getting Ready Space

Lapeer Country Club does not have a large bridal or groom suite to accommodate parties getting ready. The venue contract actually states wedding parties must arrive fully ready and that their available suite isn’t to be used for getting ready. It’s only available for an hour prior to your ceremony. It is necessary to utilize an off-site space for your party. Aaron and Jillian had rooms at the local Best Western, the closest hotel to the venue. Best Western made sure the rooms were close to one another!

This was actually perfect for Aaron and Jillian. The bridesmaids were in one room while the groomsmen were right next door. Perfect location for their kids (and me) to walk back and forth between rooms! Jillian spent her afternoon with her bridesmaids getting pampered by her glam team. Aaron and his groomsmen spent their afternoon drinking whiskey and recovering from the previous day’s round of golf. Both had decided not to do a first look before the ceremony and kept tucked away from the other in their respective rooms.

If you’re on the fence about a first look, I’d love to answer any questions you have and if it’s right for you or not! I always talk over options with my couples because a first look isn’t for everyone. You can connect with me here.

Venue Capacity and Ideal Wedding Size

Lapeer Country Club is a wedding venue that is ideal for larger celebrations. The venue can hold no more than 350 guests, but has strictions on guest count minimums during their peak wedding season. Wedding season for most venues in Michigan is typically May-October. The minimum for peak season is 150 guests. This isn’t a venue you could host a micro-wedding at!

Lapeer Country Club Wedding Ceremony

Aaron and Jillian hosted their wedding ceremony indoors. Early March in Michigan is always a surprise. Is it snowing? Maybe. Is it semi-warm and rainy? Also maybe. Because of this, this Mid Michigan wedding venue is prepared to host a ceremony indoors at any time.

The unique architecture of the windows adds an elegant element to the ceremony space, and it looks out over the front of the property towards a small lake across the road. A room divider separates this space from the neighboring reception room, so guests won’t wander to the space before its ready!

I loved this wedding ceremony. Aaron and Jillian were such a fun couple to work with. Jillian laughs with her whole heart and doesn’t take life too seriously. She laughed with Aaron through shared memories at their ceremony. Aaron is incredibly devoted to their family. Together they have three kids, and I loved watching them interact throughout the day.

The two younger children were the flower girl and ring bearer. Both of them got nervous and refused to walk down the aisle alone in front of a bunch of people. Aaron walked back up the aisle and carried both of their small children down with a huge smile. It was an incredibly sweet moment.

I would love to check my availability for you if you’re searching for a photographer! With experience at the venue, I know the best way to capture a ceremony and all the spots for your couple portraits. Lapeer Country Club is well within my travel range as well.

Wedding Reception Space at Lapeer Country Club

The reception kicked off shortly after Aaron and Jillian’s ceremony with a grand entrance for the wedding party. This space can fit up to 350 guests and is indoors. Windows all around the space look out on the front of the property, and there’s a small outdoor patio that can be used throughout the night. It’s not fully covered, so it could be a little wet in the event of rain.

Your head table (or sweetheart/family table for this wedding) was right off the dance floor near the bar. With the stone wall as a backdrop, Aaron and Jillian had a good view of the rest of the room.

This wedding celebration really got started when the dance floor opened up after dinner. The dance floor was absolutely hopping throughout the night. With an emotional father and daughter dance, a laughter-filled mother and son dance, and Aaron’s friends dancing to Pink Pony Club, this party was truly rockin’. Aaron’s father was so excited to hear the Cupid Shuffle and was the star of the dance floor quite a few times. I love when guests embrace the dance floor.

If you’re looking for candid dance floor photos for your wedding day, hire a DJ that knows how to keep the party going. There’s nothing better than a full dance floor with smiling faces! For your candid dance floor photos, connect with me to check my availability!

My 3 Favorite Things About Lapeer Country Club

On-Site Catering and Bartending

Like most other golf club venues, Lapeer Country Club has on-site catering and bartending. This is why they have a minimum guest count requirement! With the inclusion of catering and bartending, you don’t have to worry about finding a licensed and insured outside caterer. All of your communication is with one vendor rather than three separate ones. This is often a big stress relief for couples getting married at golf club venues!

Peaceful Property

The rolling greens of this golf club are quite serene. During my time working at this venue golfers were quietly walking through the area and respectfully avoided the clubhouse due to the wedding. I’ve been to other golf clubs that are still open to golfers and they congregate inside to talk, drink, and take breaks from their game. This wasn’t my experience at Lapeer Country Club!

Secret Staircase

This is such a cool little secret spot I discovered when working at Lapeer Country Club! If you have your ceremony inside, there’s a secret balcony. I sent my second photographer up there throughout the ceremony to get pictures from above. It’s an additional view of your ceremony and really allows us to get a nice wide shot of the space!

Lapeer Country Club Wedding Cost

With this being a more all-inclusive venue, couples looking to have their wedding here should expect costs to be a little higher. Lapeer Country Club starts at $10,000. Final cost is determined by your guest count since catering and bartending are included. Other inclusions for the cost are tables, chairs, and table linens.
