Best Places to Buy Lingerie for your Boudoir Session

Boudoir

If you’re on the hunt for some new lingerie, you’ve found the right place to look. As a boudoir photographer I’ve worked with so many different brands and I often get asked where to look for lingerie. There are so many places to shop from, but these are places I personally have shopped and had great experiences.

Now I’m a curvy girl, so I shop at places that are size inclusive. I currently fluctuate between a Target 18, an American Eagle 20, and an Old Navy 22. A wide range, but if you’re a woman with hips you probably understand this struggle as well. I have worked with clients of all sizes and the below mentioned stores have also worked for them! Some pieces that I currently own are so comfy that I can wear as a regular bra under my clothes. That’s a double win right there for me. I find that these stores are mostly size inclusive (that last one can be a little hit or miss sometimes).

If you have scheduled a boudoir session with me and are still struggling with ideas, just let me know! I’m always available to help you refine that vision and am happy to make suggestions on outfits to wear for your session. Just as a note, I’m not affiliated with any of these brands and I don’t receive any kickbacks for mentioning them. I just believe in the product so much, I can’t keep it secret.

Mentionables

This one has to be my top favorite. Mentionables is an online lingerie store showcasing their pieces on mannequins & not models- this is a big part of their business model. As a bigger girl, there have been times I go inside a store and see all these models wearing the clothes and then feel frustrated when it doesn’t look the same on me. Not using models actually helps me envision myself wearing pieces.

I find Mentionables lingerie to be pretty comfy as well. I have pieces I sometimes sleep in and wear around the house, so they get a lot of use. Lots of bodysuits & rompers. The satin pieces are some of my favorite, and new colors are always being introduced! At the time of writing this, I just ordered some new pieces in a soft, lemon yellow and a gorgeous mint green- colors I’ve never had before in my lingerie collection.

Adore Me

I’ve bought quite a few bodysuits from AdoreMe and have had them for quite a while. Their collection feels kinda classic to me. More solid color pieces in body suits, corsets, & slips with lots of lace options. I always see a lot of black and red options at AdoreMe which is why I think “classic” when I shop there. Sometimes with lace it can be delicate, but I’ve found these pieces to be quite sturdy. The lace actually seems to hold up well, especially in the washing machine. This is an important thing for me because I don’t have the time to hand wash every piece, especially during my wedding season months.

HelloLAGirl

I find HelloLAGirl adorable. Very floral coded, very girly. I love florals and the colors they use in their lingerie. The color options here are just so stunning, and if you love bright, true colors like me then this is the place for you. I never thought orange would be a color I wore, but my orange set is just so summer vibes that it’s perfect. The quality is good, but in full disclosure I don’t always fit into HelloLAGirl. I have just a couple pieces and what I do have does fit alright. The bras are just a smidge tight for my liking band-wise, but these pieces I own were for a boudoir session rather than wearing regularly.

Amazon

Amazon sounds so basic, right? Who woulda thought Amazon had some of the best pieces to wear for a boudoir session? I have found some simple, but cute pieces here. I do feel I need to disclose that Amazon is sometimes hit or miss in sizing. I always check reviews for things before I buy because clothing is so versatile in its sizing. I have had to buy clothes in a 5x before from Amazon because the sizing is so different than most stores. And I mean that’s wildly different than my usual XL. I’m assuming this is because of where the product is being sourced since other countries have different sizing. The most perfect thing I’ve bought for a boudoir session lately was a sheer pearl crop top. It layers so nicely over a bra or other crop top and provides just a little extra coverage if being in full lingerie isn’t the vibe for you.
