10 Best Michigan Micro-Wedding Venues

As a Southeast and Mid-Michigan wedding photographer who’s photographed 70+ weddings, I know the best Michigan wedding venues. Hi, friend! I’m Catie Eovaldi and I’ve been photographing weddings for the past 3 years. Heading into my fourth year of wedding photography, I believe your wedding photos should truly showcase you. Your emotions, your details, your most sentimental memories. Selecting the perfect venue is the first step in bringing your wedding day vision to life. There are so many wonderful Michigan wedding venues, and I’ve loved every one I’ve worked at over the past few years. The venues listed below are ones that are perfect for a micro-wedding.

How is a micro-wedding different than a wedding? Great question. A micro-wedding is really determined by guest count and how long your celebration is. In past experience, a micro-wedding is for a guest count of 40-50 guests and under. Some micro-weddings can be as long as a full 250 guest wedding, but usually I see these celebrations are shorter in length. A micro-wedding can still have the traditional moments that a large wedding can: first dance, first look/touch, cake cutting, etc. Micro-weddings are a great option for couples that wish to celebrate their union with a small group of people, or ones that are on a more strict budget.

The below micro-wedding venues are ones I’ve watched truly go above and beyond for couples. They focus in on guest experiences, hospitality, and ensuring your day is perfect. The events at these venues are truly beautiful and custom to each couple, and most importantly accommodate micro-weddings. Here are my top Michigan mirco-wedding venues you need to check out for your wedding day!

Southeast Michigan

St Clair Inn

the St Clair Inn, a Michigan micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 500 N Riverside Ave, St Clair, MI 48079
  • Website: stclairinn.com/weddings
  • Cost: starting at $5,000
  • Style/Vibe: Neutrally Nautical with a touch of Vintage Elegance
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: To elevate your experience, rent out a cottage or 2 for yourself and some friends. Turn this mirco-wedding day into a micro-wedding weekend to really make memories with your closet people!

The St Clair Inn is a historic inn right in the heart of downtown St Clair. With waterfront views, this beautiful venue is perfect for your micro-wedding. The St. Clair Inn is typically known for hosting larger weddings of 200-250 guests, but what a lot of couples don’t know is that the inn has three unique spaces only used for smaller celebrations.

For micro-wedding ceremonies, the inn often uses The Overlook. This is an outdoor space that overlooks (hence the name) the St Clair River. From the vantage point you get a clear view of the river, Canada, and any boats drifting down. The two indoor spaces, the 1926 Porches and Sapphire Porch, also have clear views of the water through the windows. These spaces can accommodate indoor ceremonies (especially in the event of weather) but are the main spaces used for micro-wedding receptions. Both indoor spaces have a similar style to the main ballroom, with dark wood highlights throughout the spaces.

Belle Isle Conservatory

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 4 Inselruhe Ave, Detroit, MI 48207
  • Website: belleisleconservancy.org
  • Phone: 313.821.9851
  • Cost: $400-$1,500
  • Style/Vibe: historic greenhouse with views of Detroit skyline
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: My expert opinion is that this venue is best for spring, fall, and even winter micro-weddings. The conservatory is open during the summer, but this building can get VERY hot and uncomfortable.

The Belle Isle Conservatory was recently under renovations throughout 2024 and early 2025. It opened just in time for spring wedding season last year, and it was beautifully restored. Belle Isle regularly sections off parts of the island for restorations throughout time to keep buildings and activities fresh for visitors. Belle Isle is home to more than just the conservatory. The island boasts a casino, elegant fountain, colorful gardens, and many picnic and park spots all throughout.

The best spot to use as a micro-wedding venue is the conservatory. Micro-weddings of 35 guests or lower are able to utilize the Showroom for shorter wedding ceremonies. The conservatory is typically still open to the public during these events, with the proper spaces blocked off so tourists cannot enter your ceremony space. It’s important to note that this micro-wedding venue is a space for ceremony only. Receptions can be held in different areas! Couples have to contact the DNR to book and learn more about using this space!

A big plus side to using Belle Isle as a venue is all the portrait backdrop options! I’ve visited the island several times and each time the portraits are so unique because of the diversity of the island. Couples could use the fountain as a portrait location, the gardens for a first look, or even the Detroit skyline as they read private vows. If you’re looking to do your portraits (whether engagement or wedding), a permit is needed to photograph professionally on this island. However, I handle obtaining permits for all my couples. I’d love to work together for your wedding or if you have any questions about these venues- you can contact me here for more information!

Private Beach in Port Huron

michigan micro wedding venue in fort gratiot

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: Fort Gratiot Michigan
  • Website: vrbo.com
  • Cost: less than $4,000
  • Style/Vibe: private lake house with nautical (but still neutral) ties
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: Rent the lake house next door as well for one big micro-wedding weekend with your people!

I normally don’t gatekeep addresses to venues, but with this one being a home on VRBO please tap that link to see a general location! This lake house is so incredibly beautiful and private, making it the perfect spot for your micro-wedding. My couple featured below, rented both lake houses for their wedding weekend (not a singular day, a full weekend). This was a second marriage for my couple, and they valued time spent as a family since their kids are adults living outside of Michigan! With spacious accommodations, they were able to relax throughout the weekend and watch that Michigan football game after their nuptials with their kids.

With this lake house rental couples get access to the private beach and grassy lot next door. A small tent can be rented and assembled on property for some coverage! I loved this beach micro-wedding set up. Kathy and Scott hosted their ceremony right in front of the lake on a beautiful September day. Their guests watched them say vows with a gentle lake breeze in the air.

It’s important for couples to know that you must discuss wedding plans with your host. Typically services such as Airbnb and VRBO discourage events and parties on properties. Airbnb I know specifically has cancelled couples’ wedding days because they didn’t properly ask permission/disclose it was a wedding. That being said, the owner of these lakehouses does allow weddings on property but you do need to discuss it with them up front!

The River Crab in St Clair

bride and groom standing on dock of michigan micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 1337 River Rd M-29, St Clair, MI 48079
  • Website: rivercrabbluewaterinn.com
  • Cost: starting at $1,000
  • Style/Vibe: Waterfront views in an elegant nautical restaurant
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: Separate from the restaurant is the Blue Water Inn (right next door). Book a couple rooms here for a getting ready space if you aren’t local!

The River Crab is St Clair’s premier seafood restaurant. Overlooking the St Clair River with an unobstructed view of Canada, this restaurant is amazing. My family and I personally have dined here several times, and I’ve worked a micro-wedding at this venue. The food here is so incredibly good, and I have a crazy confession: I’m allergic to fish. Which I know is weird- why go to a seafood restaurant when you’re allergic to more than half the menu? Guys. It’s that good. To clarify, I developed this allergy fairly recently (and out of left field), but the fact that a seafood restaurant of this caliber can work around my allergy is impressive and leaves me worry free. Another pro-tip: the Cajun chicken tortellini is out of this world. Pair it with a classic Caesar salad and a pomegranate martini, and you’re in for an amazing meal.

Compared to other venues on this list this one might be a bit more pricey, but keep in mind they are a restaurant and provide a plated dinner to your guests. Your catering and bar costs will be included in cost, and I know for some couples having it all in one venue is what they want! Every few tables have their own personal server as well, making this a true fine dining experience.

The River Crab has three different areas they mark off for private events. The outdoor patio is the perfect spot to host a small ceremony. The dock overlooks the water, and freighters and boats often pass by. In the summer, a reception or cocktail hour could also be held on the patio. Often times though, a small cocktail hour is hosted outdoors but reception is moved indoor to either the Fireside Lounge or Mezzanine Room. Fireside Lounge can host up to 35 guests and is right across from the bar. This area feels very private, and is often where my family and I sit for happy hour on non-event days! The Mezzanine Room can host up to 60 guests for a micro-wedding a tad bigger.

I’d love to work with you for your River Crab micro-wedding. You can contact me here to work together!

Mid Michigan

Westers Family Vineyard in Rives Junction

couple walking through Michigan micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 10473 Churchill Rd. Rives Junction, MI 49277
  • Website: westersfamilyvineyard.com
  • Cost: starting at $5,500
  • Style/Vibe: whimsical outdoor venue, black barn with touches of rustic throughout the barn
  • Catie’s Pro-Tip: print your engagement photos to display throughout the venue in their frames!

Westers Family Vineyard is located just outside of the Jackson area. Set on 10 acres of land, you’ll host your micro-wedding along the whimsical vines of the willow tree and inside the black barn for a party-filled reception. This wedding venue is incredibly diverse with what’s available to you in terms of spaces. While I’ve been to this venue for larger wedding events, this space is able to accommodate smaller micro-weddings and offers special deals for mid-week celebrations. A Thursday or Friday wedding is quite the move for couples in 2026 and 2027. Couples are spending less money on venues but still have a perfect wedding day with their closest family and friends.

Couples are able to get ready on property in the getting ready suites. These are conveniently located right off the main reception space for you to visit throughout the day if needed. Both of these are spacious for your smaller wedding party (or no wedding party if that’s your vibe) and filled with natural light. An ideal spot for your micro-wedding ceremony is the peninsula under the willow tree. This area is the best for smaller, intimate ceremonies and also provides cover from any direct sun. Your reception will be inside the black barn with plenty of room to dance the night away!

This venue does not provide in-house catering like previously listed venues, however there are a few catering companies they work with and always can make recommendations.

Goldner Walsh

bride and groom kissing inside greenhouse micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 559 Orchard Lake Rd, Pontiac, Michigan 48341
  • Website: goldnerwalsh.com/greenhouse-wedding-venue-michigan/
  • Cost: starting around $2,000
  • Style/Vibe: Greenhouse and garden vibes
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: For a more “all inclusive” experience, use Goldner Walsh’s in-house florist. They use florals straight out of their garden and nursery, ensuring fresh blooms.

Goldner Walsh is an active greenhouse and nursery right on the edge of Mid-Michigan. This venue started as a nursery selling plants but has turned into a beautiful wedding venue space. While this venue has the ability to host larger weddings, they also host micro-weddings all throughout the year. With Goldner Walsh being an active greenhouse, I recommend hosting your micro-wedding here during spring, fall, or winter as summer can get very hot and uncomfortable inside. I would love to work here again with you, so contact me to reserve your date!

This micro-wedding venue will host your wedding ceremony either inside one of their celebration spaces or outside in the garden amphitheater. The amphitheater space is unique and I haven’t really seen another set up like this yet. Guests are seated in a semi-circle above the ceremony space. This definitely ensures every guest has an unobstructed view of your nuptials and the outdoor nursery.

For your reception spaces, my favorite is the Bocce Ball Court and the Cedar House. Both are pictured below, but the Bocce Ball Court is more industrial in design. With a long grey brick pathway, and stained glass hanging in the area, the court would be the perfect space for a moody reception. You could easily have one long table down the center or multiple tables throughout the space. A dance floor is right off the side and there’s space for a buffet line in here as well. The Cedar House is more of that traditional greenhouse vibe- you have your greens and glass ceiling/walls inside making it feel lighter than the Bocce Ball Court. The pops of green hanging ferns throughout this space make it feel alive!

West Michigan

Warehouse 6- Holland

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 136 E 6th St, Holland, MI 49423
  • Website: warehouse6events.com
  • Cost: Unknown
  • Style/Vibe: Modern, Industrial warehouse
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: Instead of serving traditional cake for your dessert, consider serving ice cream! The trailer on this property makes for such a cute ice cream truck.

Warehouse 6 is located in the heart of downtown Holland on Michigan’s west side. This informal space is unique and close by to so many other businesses (like local coffee shops, hotels, and restaurants). This venue is easily able to accommodate all parts of a micro-wedding day on property. This venue does not include catering or florals like previously listed venues, but it’s not hard to find those vendors!

While the patio is a great spot for your micro-wedding ceremony, it’s even better for receptions. Throughout the reception, guests can amble out onto the patio to play games like cornhole. In the summer, this outdoor space is so nice to spend time in!

Millhaven in Downtown Marshall

west michigan micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 311 W Spruce Street, Marshall MI, 49068
  • Website: themillhaven.com
  • Cost: starting at $250 per hour
  • Style/Vibe: eclectic, European inspired greenhouse
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: For a fine dining experience, work with Gandia Catering for your Millhaven mirco-wedding! Chef Alex is a farm to table chef that provides an elevated catering experience for you and your guests.

The Millhaven is a micro-wedding venue located in the heart of downtown Marshall Michigan. This former pickle factory is known for hosting larger wedding events, but the onsite greenhouse is perfect for micro-weddings of 50 guests and under. Featuring lush green plants, a traditional black and white checkered floor, and the best bartending team around, this micro-wedding venue is stunning.

If you didn’t know, Millhaven is the sister venue to Greencrest Manor, an all-inclusive wedding venue in Battle Creek. Often times if you host a smaller, more intimate wedding during the winter season at Millhaven, you have the opportunity to also rent out Greencrest as a bed and breakfast. This is something that’s only available in off-peak wedding season since Greencrest Manor is also a wedding venue.

This is one of my favorite wedding venues, and I’d love to work here again with you- contact me to save your date!

Northern Michigan

Timberlee Hills- Traverse City

northern michigan micro wedding venue

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 10484 S Timberlee Dr, Traverse City, MI 49684
  • Website: timberleehills.com/event-venue
  • Cost: $8,500
  • Style/Vibe: lodge inspired with stunning views
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: this venue is perfect for a destination wedding with scenic views!

Timberlee Hills is located in the country side of Traverse City. This snow-tubing lodge (yes, you read that right), hosts weddings and micro-weddings throughout the year. With the most stunning views of rolling green hills and the quiet of the Traverse City country side, you can’t go wrong with having your wedding here!

I worked here back in 2025, and guests just couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was. From the views, to the staff, to the outdoor games, I know my couple as well as their guests had so much fun at this micro-wedding venue. With this venue, I highly encourage making this a micro-wedding weekend rather than just a single day. Traverse City is a big destination within northern Michigan, so really soak in all that time with your guests across a couple days rather than just one.

Upper Peninsula Michigan

Presque Isle Pavilion

bride and groom on the black rocks of northern michigan

Quick Venue Facts

  • Address: 3 Peter White Drive Marquette, MI
  • Website: marquettemi.gov
  • Cost: starting at $140 per hour
  • Style/Vibe: State Park with unbelievable views of Lake Superior
  • Catie’s Quick Tip: Make sure to have some outdoor activities for your guests at this venue- with being right off Lake Superior, you’re guests will want to spend most of their time outside!

I had the best experience working a micro-wedding here. Truly. My couple that married here was actually from Iowa, so Marquette Michigan was a destination wedding for them. We spent all day together hiking and getting the dreamiest portraits of them throughout the Presque Isle park. My favorite though were the Black Rocks, and the hike really wasn’t even that bad. Hayli did it in a colored wedding gown after having knee surgery, so in terms of difficulty it’s not bad!

For hosting a micro-wedding at the Presque Isle Pavilion, I do recommend working alongside a planner (we worked with Mandala Events). There are permits to navigate, and while not difficult it can be easier to have someone handle that for you. Mandala Events is local and has worked many micro-weddings at this location!

I love a good Michigan destination wedding. At this point in my career, I’ve been traveling for work for a solid 2 years and know how to navigate with couples in new areas. That said, I’d absolutely die to work here again! Contact me ASAP if you’re getting married in Marquette and I’ll be there in a heartbeat.

Micro-weddings are on the rise for 2026 and 2027. More couples are favoring small, intimate and intentional wedding days over large productions. And that’s because people are craving connection. If you’re planning a micro-wedding for 2026 or 2027, I would love to work alongside you. With a focus on capturing sentimental and intentional moments throughout a wedding day, I capture wedding days on a mix of film and digital to preserve your day authentically.

Meet Your Micro-Wedding Photographer

Catie Eovaldi, a micro wedding photographer

About Catie Eovaldi

Hi Friend! I’m Catie, and I have been photographing couples and fellow sentimental souls professionally since early 2023. Unprofessionally, I’ve been a hobbyist for almost 14 years.

Photography was, initially, a creative outlet for me as I navigated life changes- the loss of my dad, loss of my grandma, an out of state move, etc. In that time I discovered my passion for preserving authentic, meaningful moments, big and small. I dove into my photography full-time and have never looked back.

Being rooted in connection and sentiment, I provide couples with professional photos, they treasure for the rest of their life. My couples also count on me to serve them as a friend. So, let’s connect! You deserve to have your story preserved in photos forever.

Services I Offer For Micro-Weddings

My most popular package for smaller and intimate weddings is my Partial Day package. Built intentionally for micro-weddings, this package will provide a highlight of your wedding day featuring the main events such as your ceremony, cocktail hour, and beginning of your reception on both film and digital.

For a full detailed list of what’s included in my packages and to check my availability, connect with me here!
