Goldner Walsh Wedding Venue in Southeast Michigan

Goldner Walsh is known to many locals as the place to go for all your garden needs, but this nursery actually doubles as a gorgeous wedding venue on the weekends. For a wedding day teeming with life and lush greenery, this venue is going to be the one for you.
As a Southeast Michigan wedding photographer who’s worked 70+ weddings, I’ve worked at a lot of venues and often help guide couples to their dream one. Choosing your wedding venue is the first step in the planning process, and you want one that both reflects you as a couple and one your friends/family will talk about for years after your wedding day. You want a wedding venue that provides an amazing guest experience while also being aesthetically pleasing to you. I’ve worked at so many venues over my years as a wedding photographer, and I’m here to dish all the details about the best venues so you can have your dream wedding.
After all, your dream wedding all starts with where. Before you can even decide on an official date, couples often tour venues first to determine availability before nailing down a date for their wedding. Finding a venue is the first step in the wedding planning process, and it’s important to find one you feel aligned both in style and experience.
About Goldner Walsh

Goldner Walsh is a greenhouse and plant nursery located in Southeast Michigan, not far from Detroit. The venue part of this active nursery is located behind the greenhouses and store. Goldner Walsh offers flexible spaces that can be used on your wedding day. From 3 different indoor settings with the option for an outdoor wedding ceremony, couples can utilize the space how they wish. I’ve seen many different ways a wedding can be set up here, and it’s easily customizable to each couple. If you’re looking for a vendor with experience at Goldner Walsh that can help you customize your day to you, I’d love to connect. You can reach out here to check my availability.
This wedding venue is unique in that it offers an in-house florist. This is an optional service couples can add on to their venue rental, but I highly encourage you to take advantage of this service. Being floral experts, this venue is going to use their local blooms for your day which is also a sustainable practice.
Your Goldner Walsh Wedding Ceremony
This greenhouse wedding venue has two different spots couples can use for their wedding ceremony. My favorite spot is the outdoor ceremony space. Guests will be seated in an amphitheater style- meaning they will sit above the ceremony location in rows of arches. This is actually a great detail for an outdoor ceremony because it ensures all your guests will have an unobstructed view of the ceremony!

My couple had set up and decorated their wedding arch perfectly for an outdoor ceremony, but we had to pivot at the last minute due to rain moving through. Fifteen minutes before the ceremony was set to begin, it started pouring down rain. We quickly moved everything inside and directed guests to the indoor ceremony space also known as the Celebration Space.
Decorated with hanging stars, this indoor ceremony space felt both industrial with a touch of celestial. The space has Edison-style bulbs adorning the ceiling. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and what luck we had moving everything over quickly to get everything started on time.
Reception Areas at Goldner Walsh

My couple had structured their reception to flow from one space to another. Immediately following the ceremony guests were ushered right outside into The Cedar House. With this being an active greenhouse, there were spots in The Cedar House roof that leaked through during rain. This wasn’t a huge issue for us since the rain occurred during the ceremony and later on in the evening (when we weren’t in the area). Just something to keep in mind when planning your own day! This space had been set up for cocktail hour with a mobile bar and tall tables for guests to socialize around. Guests enjoyed this space during the sunset, and the candles throughout the space really set the mood for the rest of the evening!
After cocktail hour, we moved into the Bocce Ball Court. With tables set up in the gravel, the main aisleway was clear for this couple’s grand entrance. There are different ways to set up your reception in the court, but with the tables up against each wall the middle aisle was free for guests to walk down (especially with plates of food from the buffet). Off the side of the court, is a large area that is often used as the main dancefloor. There was space for a photo booth, and the bar had been moved from the cocktail hour space to the main reception area.

My Top 3 Tips for Your Goldner Walsh Wedding Day
Hire an Outside Planner

Time for some honesty: this wedding day was absolutely wonderful, but the rain made our plans a bit hectic. There was no wedding planner hired for this day, and when that’s the case I usually have to step in at times to move the timeline along, fix any sudden issues, and step in to talk to other vendors day of. While I don’t mind being the one to step up and fix things (like moving your outdoor ceremony inside due to rain), it does take away from the photography experience. I’ll miss things like a hug from your dad or your bridesmaids fixing your veil for you. When you hire a photographer, you want them to be present for all the moments of your day instead of focused on playing the role of planner.
I will always recommend you work with a wedding planner for your day. From handling vendor communication, decorating the venue with your vendor team, and fixing any last minute issues, planners will take all your worry and stress away for you to stay present. I’ve been assisting couples in their wedding planning journeys and have a new planning offering for 2027 couples. If this is you, reach out to see if we’re a fit for each other for your wedding planning and photography needs.
Utilize In-House Vendors
While using in-house vendors makes communication simple, it’s not the only reason to utilize them. When a venue offers vendors in-house it’s usually because they are experts in that field. For some this means catering, but for Goldner Walsh this means stunning florals. With a moody color palette for this day, the floral team at this greenhouse wedding venue executed my bride’s vision perfectly with flowers from their own space.

Buy Heel Stabilizers
Your wedding day won’t just be inside Goldner Walsh, but outside of it! My bride had bought her dream shoes- a pair of black Louboutin heels. With a pointed heel, it made it difficult to walk outdoors in the grassy & mulched areas. Thankfully she had bought little heel stabilizers that ensured her shoes wouldn’t sink into the ground!

Your wedding venue rental costs at Goldner Walsh will run between $3,700-$6,700. There are different factors to cost such as which areas (like the Bocce Ball Court or Cedar House) are rented and the number of guests.
