Hannah and Klayton kicked off my wedding season last month at the Lumberyard Event Center, and what a way to kick off the season! The Lumberyard Event Center is located in Wayland Michigan, which is on the west side of the state. This venue was previously a lumberyard and features a large outdoor yard and 2 indoor areas. Much of the venue used the original wood from the lumberyard, giving it it’s rustic feel. The outdoor yard is perfect for a ceremony, but in the event of rain could be moved indoors easily. The first building has the bridal suite and large reception space. The space can host up to 285 guests. The second building was where I found the groomsmen getting ready. In between the two buildings is a little alleyway, which was where Hannah and Klayton had their first look and said private vows.
Getting Ready at The Lumberyard
Hannah and Klayton’s wedding party was a fun bunch to work with. We started the day in the Lumberyard’s getting ready suites. Both parties had so much time throughout the day to intentionally relax and have fun together. This is a big reason I offer timeline assistance to my clients. Timelines are essential to planning your wedding and ensuring things run smoothly. They also are my way to make sure we approach your wedding day with intention. I always try to schedule more time than we actually need for things. This will give us flexibility for time to relax and move things around if needed. For Hannah and Klayton, getting ready was their time to be intentional with their friends and families before the ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony Outside The Lumberyard Event Center
Hannah and Klayton chose to hold their ceremony right outside in the large yard space. Their friends and family were seated quickly while the wedding party lined up in the alley. The alley concealed the bride for that perfect wow-moment she walked down the aisle. With a quick, beautiful ceremony and traditional vows, Hannah and Klayton were married in front of their people.
Reception Inside The Event Center
After their ceremony, the guests were able to head immediately inside for a brief cocktail hour. Hannah and Klayton had had all of their portraits done prior to the ceremony. Cocktail hour was an intentional time for them to sign their marriage license and be with their guests. As the reception started with a grand entrance, the crowd was eager to kick off dinner and dancing for the rest of the night. The dancefloor was packed the entirety of the night, with smiles on everyone’s faces.
