Heading into my fourth year of wedding photography, I believe your wedding photos should truly showcase the emotions, the details, and you in your wedding day. Selecting the perfect venue is the first step in bringing your wedding day vision to life. There are so many wonderful Michigan wedding venues, and I’ve loved every one I’ve worked at over the past few years. On Michigan’s west side of the state is Baker Events Holland. This former furniture factory turned wedding venue is a modern, industrial space that can host indoor wedding ceremonies and receptions.
About Weddings at Baker Lofts Events
Baker Events in Holland offers an exclusive, private space for your wedding celebrations. Baker has been transformed from old furniture factory to modern, industrial loft that fits every couple’s day-of needs.
Baker has two different spaces within their building. The downstairs Warehouse boasts high ceilings with a beautiful dark wood floor set against a clean white brick interior. An outdoor patio is right outside for the perfect summery evening cocktail hour. The upstairs Loft features a wood floor with wood beam ceilings, exposed brick, and large windows with the most perfect natural light for your wedding day. Both spaces come with their own getting ready suites located within the building!
The bridal suites are wonderfully spacious enough to fit up to eight bridesmaids. This space also has large windows with natural light. This natural light along with the large mirrors throughout the space are a great amenity for your hair and makeup teams!
Ceremony and Reception Spaces at Baker Lofts Events
Baker Events has the ability to host both your ceremony and reception in the same space, with up to 300 guests. Couples have the ability to rent both spaces, one for ceremony use and the other for reception use, or each space separately. The couple featured within this blog post exclusively used the Loft space upstairs- their wedding ceremony was hosted at Pillar Church just a few block away! I hear of couples using the Loft for their ceremony, with an outdoor cocktail hour, and then a reception held inside the Warehouse space.
The Loft reception space at Baker Events Holland is wonderfully spacious. My couple had decorated their space in pastels and florals- it was a spring dream! With bud vases and florals on every table, the florals really brought life into this industrial space. A unique element for the table numbers at this reception was that the table number doubled as an anniversary card the couple would open on that year. So Table 1’s card they would open on their first anniversary, Table 2’s on their second anniversary, and so on. Each card had a watercolor flower the bride’s mother painted on it.
In-House Vendor Team
Baker Events Holland has partnered with Gilmore Catering as an in-house caterer and bartender. We had a great experience with Gilmore. The food was delicious, and I still hear people talking about the food to this day. We were able to take leftover food home as long as we provided the proper containers (something not many catering companies do in my experience). The bartenders were quick with the drinks and so kind. Their in-house venue coordinator was great to work alongside! My Favorite Things About Baker Lofts
There are so many great things at Baker Events Holland, but my top 3 were the food, the hidden portrait spots, and that it’s a blank canvas for decorations.
Catering Team
As mentioned before, Baker Events Holland partners with Gilmore Catering. The ability to pack up the leftovers was a huge win for my couple, who I know LOVED the food. They were so excited to take it home. The food they picked was so delicious and guests still talk about and remember how good it was.
Portrait Spots
This venue has several little spots we can use for all sorts of portraits. I love when I can use venue space for everything! I used the Loft for bridal party portraits prior to the start of the ceremony (we got more at the church as well). The staircase in the back of the building (leading up to the backside of The Loft) made for some moody portraits for Moira and Parker, and was away from their guests for a little privacy. There’s an outdoor courtyard featuring some green trees that also made for a great portrait spot. Baker Lofts Events also isn’t far from downtown Holland if couples do want more locations throughout their wedding day, so the possibilities are endless! Decorating the Space
I really had fun getting to decorate the space for Moira and Parker’s wedding day. Baker Lofts Events, while it does have that industrial feel, is a blank canvas for couples to dream up their perfect day. I arrived and decorated the space a day before their wedding day, ensuring it was perfect for us to walk into the next day. We used white paper bubbles to decorate the space above the head table. We had taper candles galore, paired with the pastel florals and a greenery wall for their seating chart. The space was beautiful and exactly what Moira and Parker had envisioned.
