As a Southeast and Mid-Michigan wedding photographer who’s photographed 70+ weddings, I’ve worked my fair share of weddings in the Metro Detroit area. Hi, friend! I’m Catie Eovaldi and I’ve been photographing weddings for the past 3 years. I work with couples all over Michigan and believe your wedding photos should truly showcase you. Your emotions, your details, your most sentimental memories in the making. Selecting the perfect venue is the first step in bringing your wedding day vision to life, and while there are so many wonderful Michigan wedding venues that list can get overwhelming quick! As I continue working at venues in the Metro area, I’ll keep this post updated. This post is exclusively centered around venues in Detroit. If you’re looking for other areas of Michigan to get married in, check out my other blog posts!
Weddings in Metro Detroit are often days filled with complete joy and a love for the hustle & bustle of the city. For wedding days visiting multiple sites in the area, I recommend looking into hiring transportation to safely transport your wedding party around the city between your ceremony, portrait spots, and reception space.
The below Metro Detroit wedding venues are ones I’ve watched truly go above and beyond for couples. They focus in on guest experiences, hospitality, and ensuring your day is perfect. The events at these venues are truly beautiful and custom to each couple. Here are my top Metro Detroit wedding venues you need to check out for your wedding day!
Cork & Gabel Restaurant

Quick Venue Facts
- Address: 2415 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216
- Website: corkandgabel.com
- Capacity: 130 guests
- Cost: Unknown
- Style/Vibe: Industrial
- Parking Info: Free private on-site parking lot for guests
Perhaps one of the more unique venues I’ve worked at in Metro Detroit, this restaurant will close down for the day to host your wedding. Sitting right outside of Michigan Central Station, you’ll have a gorgeous view of the historic building throughout the evening. Cork and Gabel’s a bit untraditional when it comes to venues- there are no getting ready suites on site here, but there is an Airbnb 5 minutes south of the restaurant and one across the street.
Couples can either have their ceremony on or off site. For on site, they are typically held in the courtyard area and can face towards the restaurant or parking lot in front of Michigan Central. This ceremony option will be in full sun, so I recommend advising guests of that prior to your day! Off site locations vary, but typically are held in local churches. One of them is Most Holy Trinity, which is what the pictured couple below did! Most Holy Trinity is on this list further down.
My favorite unique element to this venue is their catering. A lot of venues do have catering included, but the food at Cork and Gabel is on another level. Because this is a restaurant first and venue second, they don’t offer buffet style meals. Instead they opt for a plated or family style dinner with a menu completely customized to you. Often times with large scale wedding venues couples choose from a pre-set menu for their food and bar services. Cork and Gabel works with each couple to decide what their menu will be which is unique to them. The couple I worked with had mini grilled cheeses with tomato soup shooters during cocktail hour and it was amazing. Easily the best tomato soup I have ever had. Dinner was a choice between salmon or chicken, the latter of which I tried and was also very good. Cork and Gable also made dessert as well. There was quite a large variety so I didn’t get to try everything, but I can say the mini donuts and tiramisu were top notch. I married into an Italian family, so trust me when I say I’m picky about my tiramisu!
This is one of my favorite Metro Detroit wedding venues, and one I’d love to work at again! If you’ve chosen Cork and Gabel as your venue and are looking for a photographer I’d love chat and see if I’m the right fit for you. You can check my availability here!

Belle Isle Conservatory

Quick Venue Facts
- Address: 4 Inselruhe Ave, Detroit, MI 48207
- Website: belleisleconservancy.org
- Phone: 313.821.9851
- Cost: $400-$1,500
- Capacity: 35 guests inside; 150 outdoors
- Style/Vibe: historic greenhouse with views of Detroit skyline
- Parking Info: Public lots all around the island; There is one right next to both the gardens and conservatory; these are first come first serve. Parking itself is free, but there is a cost to enter the park.
The Belle Isle Conservatory was recently under renovations throughout 2024 and early 2025. It opened just in time for spring wedding season 2025, and it was beautifully restored. Belle Isle regularly sections off parts of the island for restorations throughout time to keep buildings and activities fresh for visitors. Currently the casino was just finished and the water fountain went under construction.
The best spot to use as a micro-wedding venue is the conservatory. Micro-weddings of 35 guests or lower are able to utilize the Showroom for shorter wedding ceremonies. I highly recommend recommend booking this space any time except for summer. The conservatory gets incredibly hot, and while I can deal with sweat the last thing you want is your hair to react to the humidity and makeup to run. I would suggest using this space in spring, fall, or winter.
The conservatory is typically still open to the public during these events, with the proper spaces blocked off so tourists cannot enter your ceremony space. It’s important to note that this micro-wedding venue is a space for ceremony only. Receptions can be held in different areas! Couples have to contact the DNR to book and learn more about using this space!
Alternatively, you can host your wedding outside in the gardens. This is a bigger space that can accommodate 150 guests, but you will be outside in the elements. Like the conservatory, tourists will be in the area but your celebration will be properly roped off. With Belle Isle being a popular park in the summer, the isle has met capacity before. I highly recommend planning accordingly and working with a wedding planner for this venue. Belle Isle also requires permits for this location, which I have experience with obtaining! If you have questions, please feel free to contact me here for more information!

Michigan Central Station

Quick Venue Facts
- Address: 2001 15th St Suite 101, Detroit, MI 48216
- Website: michigancentral.com
- Cost: starting at $10,000
- Capacity: up to 1,000 guests
- Style/Vibe: Historical landmark with stunning architecture
- Parking Info: Public parking next to building, street parking also available. I believe this is free parking!
Michigan Central is an incredible wedding venue. With several spaces inside to host your wedding, you’ll be married in a gorgeous Metro Detroit wedding venue. My personal experience with this venue has been limited to its outdoor locations, but just know the inside is even more beautiful. Michigan Central is purely just a venue space. You will need to bring in all other vendors to execute your dream wedding vision. I have the perfect vendor team list for you already if getting married here- just contact me for availability here.
There are several different areas inside Michigan Central. Each with different costs. The most popular areas for weddings though are the Terraces, the Study, and the South Concourse. With having to bring in all vendors to this space, I highly encourage you to work with a wedding planner to keep everything on schedule, prevent mishaps, and make sure everything is perfect.

Most Holy Trinity

Quick Venue Facts
- Address: 1050 Porter St, Detroit, MI 48226
- Website: mhtdetroit.org
- Cost: $1,850
- Capacity: 200 guests
- Style/Vibe: traditional Catholic Church with gilded accents
- Parking Info: Limited street parking, but free
Most Holy Trinity is located near Michigan Central and Cork and Gabel. Located within Corktown, this church was founded in 1834 and has a gorgeous design. This church consists of 2 buildings. One is home to the offices which function as a space for couples to wait for their ceremony. Many Catholic weddings I work don’t have a first look between the couple, so there is space for you to be separated! The other building is the actual church. This church has a more intimate feel- it’s not as large as it’s sister parish, St Anne’s Basilica, but is still stunning!
It’s important to note this venue will only host your wedding ceremony, and you must be Catholic to marry here. You do not need to be parishioners, but you will need permission to marry here. This is common for Catholic Churches, and my couples overall haven’t had any issues. I work with a lot of couples traveling into Michigan for their weddings- especially military couples who may be from the area originally but were stationed elsewhere. As long as you complete the requested prep work, the church is fine with it being completed off site!

The Fisher Building

Quick Venue Facts
- Address: 3011 W. Grand Blvd. Detroit, MI 48202
- Website: fisherbuilding.city
- Cost: Unknown
- Capacity: up to 400 guests
- Style/Vibe: Art deco historic building
- Parking Info: Parking Garage next to building (owned by Fisher Building). Payment required. There’s a skywalk into the building for direct access!
Another unique venue in the metro area! There is no other venue with a similar style as the Fisher Building. Commonly known as a theater in Detroit, this space also can host weddings and various other events. While the cost to rent space in Fisher Building is unknown, I would be prepared to pay a hefty price to host your day here. In addition to this, you will need to bring in all your vendors (minus bartending) in for your event.
With the Fisher Building being open to the public, it’s important to know that there will be tourists wandering nearby. While security tries to keep people away from your celebration there always is the potential to have someone wander by. Other than this, there is not a lot out there on information to have this as your wedding venue, but the reviews from past couples have been glowing. Fisher Building strongly recommends couples reach out directly to learn more.
Outside of using this Metro Detroit wedding venue, couples can use the first floor for free for wedding portraits. The second floor requires a permit, but is also usable! This is a great option for a touch of art deco elegance if a Fisher Building wedding is out of your budget.
